Who am I?
My name is Kirk Thomas. I have spent the last couple decades working on projects and programs. I have worked internally on IT programs, Marketing projects, and run many DOD contracts as an Program Engineer, Technical Director and Program Manager.
I have also owned a business, managed customer accounts, worked as proposal manager, generated new business, worked for the United States Army preparing, negotiating and overseeing contracts/programs under one of the Acquisitions Branches. I have worked small business, large business and in the Government.
This has given me a lot of perspective. However even with all that behind me I have just touched the tip of what it takes to run programs, projects and teams well.
I am a life long learner in the things that I am passionate about. And I am passionate about projects. I love taking an idea or concept and seeing it through to the end.
The Purpose of PMO-HQ.com
The purpose of PMO-HQ.com is to share with you that journey. To provide a journey of learning of things. My goals are the following:
- To provide a simplified frame work for managing a program
- To provide step by step advice on many of the tools and the techniques that a PM can use.
- To provide case studies on difficult situations that we as PMs may face and hopefully engage you the reader to share your thoughts and ideas.
- To help small companies or individuals that are new to Program Management find a trusted source to help them succeed.
